Carbs tend to get portrayed negatively by the media and fat diets.  The truth is, not all carbs are created equally. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. There are junk carbs and good for you carbs, ok?! Ok.  With the right kind of carbs in your diet it will give you usable ENERGY. Too many refined carbs will increase your risk for chronic disease. 🙅🏽‍♀️  SIMPLE + REFIND vs. COMPLEX  SIMPLE carbs are going to be smaller compounds that are broken down quickly providing a quick burst of energy after consumed. These often cause a rapid change in blood glucose.
Think: white flour, pasta, sugar, candy, etc.  COMPLEX carbs are going to be made of larger compounds that require more time to be broken down, slowing digestion and preventing extreme changes in your blood glucose levels. Think: whole grains, veggies, beans, legumes.  You want SLOW carbs meaning they break down slow vs fast and cause a blood sugar spike!  While we are talking carbs, let’s be sure to add in quality protein + fat too! 🤍👏🏽

Let’s break it down:  Sick care means that you’re given a bandaid or quick fix to cover up or mask your symptoms. Covering up symptoms does not equal optimal health and wellness and it never will.  ➡️Hear me when I say, I whole heartedly believe that there is a time, place, and special circumstances for conventional medicine.  What if we made things easier and more simple? Like addressing things like:  ⚡️sun exposure

FOOD TOXINS: PART 3 SAVE THIS FOR FUTURE REFEREN FOOD TOXINS: PART 3  SAVE THIS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE ⤴️  We could go on and on and on, I could give you THOUSANDS of food additives, dyes, chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, gums, and ingredients that aren’t safe for us to be consuming. Rather than do that, I hope you feel empowered with the info that I have given you to be an advocate for your own health, to ask questions, and demand better!  QUICK GET STARTED TIPS:  •become an ingredient label detective, read, read, read. If you don’t recognize something, figure out why it’s in there. 🕵️‍♀️  •add more ONE INGREDIENT foods into your diet. A meal could look as simple as this:  ➡️chicken, sweet potato, and green beans cooked in ghee or avo oil with some spices.  It doesn’t have to be complicated at all!  •If you can’t afford or source organic, focus on fresh produce that you wash really well, frozen fruits and veggies are a great budget friendly option too. The dirty dozen list should be top of priority when buying organic.  •shop at your local farmers market and consider joining a CSA to save and support local.  •re-allocate some of your grocery budget from packaged processed junk to fresh!  •shop the perimeter of the grocery store which is where the most nutrient rich options live!  •educate yourself on WHY making better choices actually matters, this will help you get clear on the consequences that come along with eating a diet rich in processed junk. (see post 1 + 2 of this series)  At the end of the day, control what you can! Am I saying you have to be perfect 100% of the time to achieve health— absolutely not! I’m simply arming you with info so you can make better, more informed choices!  If you missed the other two post to this series, go back a few so you can have all of the info!
