If you aren’t familiar with the Environmental Working Group, click here to learn who they are and what they do! To sum it up, the EWG is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to protecting human health and the environment. That could be an entire blog post itself, but I will spare you!
So, lets get to it…the EWG has updated their dirty dozen and clean fifteen list. This list includes the top twelve conventional (not organic) fruits and veggies that have the highest amounts of pesticide residue. You will want to try (keyword, try) to always buy the items on that list organic. It has changed a tiny bit from last year, so click here to download a pdf to either print or screen shot to save on your phone when grocery shopping!
The moment TEB said these were the best chocolate cookies he’d ever had, I knew this recipe was a winner. After testing several times, I certainly have to agree!
They are made with simple ingredients, and fool proof. Plus, who doesn’t need another chocolate recipe on hand?! They are grain free, dairy free, basically all the things free and such a nice treat!
This one has been a long time coming. My milk recipes have been perfected and I must share the goods with you!
Let’s be clear on one thing, I had stipulations when I decided to do this back in 2018. First, it needed to be made with nuts or seeds that did not require straining, no time for that. Second, it needed to be easy, and third, taste good!
Making milk at home is very inexpensive, easy, and taste so much better than store bought. Even the organic, non-gmo options at the grocery still have gums and fillers. Two things, I’m certain aren’t needed in my life.
TEB loves a good bar. While, bars aren’t my personal preference, it’s important that the bars he does consume be full of nutrients+clean ingredients+real food. These fit the bill, and no, I don’t always make homemade bars.
These are SUPER easy, and you probably already have some or all of the ingredients on the list. Plus you can switch ingredients around! If you don’t like raisins, maybe add some unsweetened cherries instead.
Collagen was perfect to add for some extra protein. OX Nutrition blends better than any collagen I have EVER used, plus they source sustainably and that is important to me.
Happy New Year! Hopefully you are back in the swing of things and getting after it!
Listed below are my much requested Aldi favs separated out into what I buy organic vs. non there. Unfortunately, it is not a one stop shop for us, but that’s ok because it’s not out of my way!
My rule of thumb is ALWAYS following the EWG dirty dozen+clean fifteen. This EWG list is a shopper’s guide to pesticides in produce. So it is a list of the twelve dirtiest which you should always buy organic when possible, and the clean fifteen is a list of the produce that are ok to buy non-organic. Aldi’s organic selection is awesome for most produce.
When I first started making smoothies years ago, it was tough deciding what superfoods I wanted to add in and keep my smoothie balanced and nutritious. It can be really confusing with all the superfoods, adaptogens, collagen, plant protein, beauty water — literally ALL THE THINGS.
So, what are superfoods?! They are foods with superior nutritional value. You probably already incorporate certain ones in your diet and don’t even realize it! They are packed with powerful nutritional benefits, so get to know them and get comfortable with them.
I am so happy you’ve stopped by!
I am here to fill your soul with some good vibes, health+wellness, damn good recipes, (duh, I got you girl, no one’s got time for a bad recipe) some safe beauty talk, inspiration, and all things beautiful. It’s likely you might not agree with some of the things I talk about, like, or discuss, and that is quite alright. We are allowed to have different opinions/views/beliefs and still respect each other. Remember, good vibes only.
I am a true believer that simple is beautiful and (healthy) chocolate cures a lot of things. I also believe in making yourself your number one priority, because if you don’t show up for yourself, you can’t show up for others. Nourishing and caring for your body is the key act of self love. So, do things that make you feel amazing, don’t get all caught up in the small stuff. Make a conscious effort do be better and do better every day. It’s about progress, not perfection.
