we had the best time celebrating HRB’s first bir

we had the best time celebrating HRB’s first birthday back in June! This first year has been the quickest, sweetest, most joyful and fulfilling year of my life!

we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day celebrating with friends and family in our back yard🤍☀️ we had the yummiest southern meal from a local fav, all gluten and dairy free! Homemade lemonade that I mastered the recipe to after lots of testing, yummy gf cookies— I was able to find a vendor on Etsy who shipped and she even used the butter I requested! We even had the bubble machine going!

when I started planning his party, it was mainly as a distraction when we found out our Parker boy was sick. It brought me so much joy and happiness during such a hard, sad time.

We knew before this boy was even born that we’d be having a puppy theme first birthday party🦮🐾 and I’ve saved everything, might just add in a little pink and have the same party for sister in the future!

SMASH BURGERS

we had to try this viral meal that’s been going around and let me tell you, 10/10, so good!

super easy too!

smash your beef in a greased pan and flatten out with a tortilla on top— we used @sietefoods and @riseandpuff gf, both great options.

once that side is cooked how you like, flip it all over and continue cooking.

then add the goods:
we did—

raw cheese
burger sauce (rough recipe below)
lettuce
tomatoes
onions

then you fold it up like a taco and enjoy! have you made these yet?!

burger sauce recipe:

2 tbsp @chosenfoods Mayo
1 tbsp finely chopped dill pickle
1-2 tsp pickle juice
1 tbsp @primalkitchenfoods ketchup
1-2 tsp Dijon mustard
a pinch of smoked paprika and @redmondrealsalt
and a little black pepper

mix up and you’re ready to use it!

when it comes to toys and baby “stuff” we try

when it comes to toys and baby “stuff” we try to keep things pretty minimal and neutral! I can’t help it, it’s just who I am.

HRB absolutely loves his toy subscription from @lovevery and I really like that the things that are in the boxes are age and developmentally appropriate! We also have several things from @cocovillage that are great too— the activity table and balance bike. @greentoysinc is a great place to get recycled plastic toys— the recycle truck is on of his favs!

We typically stick with wood and recycled plastic toys for him.

I truly believe that time outside playing with dirt, grass, water, sticks or rocks absolutely cannot be replaced! So we do lots of that!

A few months ago I was on the hunt for an aesthetically pleasing water table, I searched for days, high and low. Nothing was to be found, literally nothing! it didn’t exist.

THEN… @playsmol did a pre-launch of their smol tide water table and if it isn’t the most perfect cutie little water table 😭🥰🤍👏🏽😍🤩

So, this will get us more time outside playing with water plus it’s responsibly made and lead and phthalate free! 🎉💦
