Either you run the day or the day runs you.
There are a couple of things that are non-negotiable for me, sleep and routine. They set you up for success and set the tone for all areas of life. Every single morning looks almost identical for me.
My morning routine actually starts the night before, and I am not even going to tell you it is easy…but no phone for at least 30 minutes before lights out. We are all guilty of mindless scrolling, and it’s the biggest time waster ever. I follow this into my morning. I want to be a dictator of my time, not a reactor. Plus, I want to make the most of my time and be as productive as possible.
This is what the majority of my mornings look like:
-wake up early (alarm goes off at 4:30, up by 4:40/4:50)
-no scrolling (this was super hard at first but gets so easy after a few days!)
-guided meditation using the Unplug app (sometimes this will happen after I make smoothies instead of before my workout)
-water
-workout at 5:30
-shower and get ready
-make my smoothie+TEB’s breakfast
-Devotion
-write down gratitude, personal development and affirmations for the day. Then take a look at my list for the day that I mapped out the day before–make adjustments+add to it.
-take Scout on a walk
-Get after it!

Having a routine makes me feel centered and grounded. It sets the tone for my entire day and allows me dictate how my day is going to be instead of reacting to it. Working from home can sometimes be a bit chaotic but this changes everything, and can work for you too. You have to create the time for the things that you value. With that being said, I am still really flexible with this. If I feel like meditating after my workout I will do that, or if taking Scout on a walk mid morning sounds better, we will do that!
You can create more time in your day to the things that ground you by waking up earlier. Try waking up 15 minutes earlier each day until it becomes part of who you are! It will get easier, I promise! You have the time, you just have to create it.
I am SUPER new to meditating, and so far I really like it. It brings a sense of inner peace and calm to me. At the beginning of the year I set an intention to learn to meditate and enjoy it! It felt really weird and woo woo at first, I’m not even going to lie. It has helped me respond to things differently and have a calm start to my morning. This+no scrolling or checking text, email, or DM’s has helped so much!
Your day is pretty much formed by how you spend your first hour. Check your thoughts, attitude, and heart.
Are you a lover of routine?!
